Beer Pong Game Backround

align=

Without boring you with too much on the beer pong game history, I will tell you that:

Beer pong is a drinking game originally made popular by college students.

All depending on location, beer pong games are played with different variations of styles of play and sets of rules.

The most common style of play ( also know as Beruit Pong ) is where opposing players try to throw ping pong balls across a table into cups filled with beer.

A variation of this is where instead of throwing the balls you play beer pong with paddles like table tennis.

I personally don't play with paddles so the style of play I will discuss involves throwing the ball.

How to play Beer Pong

The following are the basic items you will need to get you up and playing beer pong fast.

Items needed-

  • Alot Of Beer - Something that is easy to consume.

  • 20 Cups - Those Solo 16oz plastic cups work well.

  • Beer Pong Balls - Which are simply ping pong balls.

  • Table - Or any raised flat surface.

  • People - Usually 2-4 players broken into two teams.

To set up a beer pong game, arrange 10 cups in a pyramid at each end of the table with the tip of the pyramid pointing towards your opponent.

Fill the cups about 1/4 of the way with beer, this is enough to keep the cups from tipping over on line drive shots.

Players or teams stand at opposite ends of the table with a set of cups in front of them. Each team's turn consists of throwing two balls.

The object is to throw the balls into the other team's cups. The opposing team must drink the beer in the cups where the balls land. The empty cups are then removed from the playing area.

The first team to land balls into all of the opposition's cups wins. The losing team must then consume any beer left in the winning team's cups.

Additional Rules to Beer Pong

Now that you have the basics of beer pong down as explained by myself and Charlie, you can play beer pong and get hours of enjoyment out of it. There are however a few other general rules you should be aware of.

Here are the most common:

  • Throw Line - The line you can't cross when throwing the ball, usually the table edge.

  • Roll Back - If both balls from a team's turn land in cups, that team gets to shoot again.

  • Swatting Ball - You can swat away your opponent's ball if it bounces off the table or the edge of a cup.

  • Bounce Shot - Can count as two cups. With a little practice is an easier shot to make, although tricky because your opponent can swat the shot away.

  • Re-Racking - Is simply restacking the full cups of beer on the table to keep the game moving along. Usually 2-3 reracks per game.

  • 2 Balls Same Cup - If both players on a team sink their balls in the same cup, one of the following rules may apply:

    -That team wins automatically

    - Multiple beers must be consumed by the opponent

    - etc...

  • Rebuttle Shot - When one team has no more cups to hit, the other team has one last turn to tie the game and send it into overtime. In overtime, 3 to 6 more cups are added to each side and play continues.
Since there are no offical beer pong rules, the game is usually played under a set of houserules. Houserules should be agreed upon before starting.

Alright, You should now be armed with enough knowledge on beer pong to get yourself in the game or to host your own beer pong tournaments.

You might even get to the point of enjoying the game so much you would like to purchase your own custom beer pong table.

Whatever level you decide to take the game to, be it from playing in the backyard on a piece of plywood to playing in the World Series of Beer Pong, just enjoy the game and have fun.

One more thing to to keep in mind, continual playing will get you drunk, which is the object of the game. So don't be an idiot, Don't drink and drive.
